I am thrilled to announce that I will be speaking at the SCTE Expo 2023 on a topic that is critical in today's connected world: "Strengthening IoT Device Security through White-Box Cryptography and Obfuscation." This talk is designed to shed light on the importance of securing IoT devices and explore innovative techniques to safeguard our interconnected lives.

Event Details

Date: October 18th
Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: SCTE Cable-Tec 2023 in Denver, CO, USA
Session: Lightning Talk in Security Summit

Summary

As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand its reach, connecting everything from smart homes to industrial machinery, security concerns have become more pressing than ever. IoT devices are vulnerable to a wide range of cyber threats, making them prime targets for hackers seeking to exploit vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. Hardware based security such as HSM or TEE are proven to be expensive and not feasible for such IoT devices with low processing power and resources.

What You Can Expect

In my SCTE Expo 2023 talk, I will delve into the world of IoT device security and provide insights into how we can bolster it through two key strategies as an all software-based approach to security:

White-Box Cryptography: We will explore how white-box cryptography can be used to protect sensitive data within IoT devices. This approach ensures that cryptographic keys remain secure, even when attackers have full access to the device.

Obfuscation Techniques: Obfuscation involves concealing the inner workings of IoT applications to make it more difficult for attackers to reverse-engineer or tamper with them.

Who Should Attend

This talk is suitable for a wide range of audiences, including:

  • IoT developers and engineers
  • Cybersecurity professionals
  • IoT enthusiasts and hobbyists
  • Industry leaders and decision-makers

Why You Should Attend

By joining this session, you will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges surrounding IoT security and learn practical strategies to protect your IoT devices effectively. Whether you are a developer looking to secure your IoT projects or a decision-maker concerned about IoT security in your organization, this talk will equip you with valuable insights to alternative to HSM to protect your IoT applications.

Stay tuned for more updates and details about my talk as the event date approaches. I look forward to engaging with you all at SCTE Expo 2023 and helping to strengthen the security of the IoT ecosystem!
